A Post With No Name
I wanted to update some frequent visitors (and any new comers) over the next week I’m going to be revamping my site. I enjoy Twitter Tuesdays, but lately I’ve been letting them fall to the wayside. I believe it’s a worthy endeavor however, because I repost helpful (sometimes humurous) graphic design related (and some unrelated) Tweets. I will be redesigning my website and including a page who’s only purpose is to present Twitter Tuesday posts. I believe the amount of Twitter Tuesday posts are congesting my articles of much greater length and purpose.
As a designer it’s important to seperate yourself from your work and reexamine it. WordPress themes are both a gift and a curse. WordPress itself is blessed, but I haven’t had the time lately to teach myself how to build a wordpress theme from the ground up. I only know how to reskin themes and move elements around. I’ve finally found a theme that promotes a blog and a handsome portfolio presentation, however. It’s important that my audience understand I am not just a blogger, but a working graphic designer. I’ve witnessed over the last 6 months that my articles get more exposure than my portfolio page(s). I blame this due to the fact there’s nothing on the front page advertising so much as a link to my portfolio. So you will see some changes around here, but the content will remain the same. Also, I plan in the future to learn how create my own theme from the ground up.
In other news, I’m about to work with a local band called Muskrat Hannah and making them a website. I’ve been hired to create a website for Area Real Estate Inc. in Sylacauga, AL too. I just created a t-shirt design pro bono for Rebecca Waiter who was raising money to travel to Uganda to do missionary work (will post design soon). And of course, I’m accepting new clients still. So no matter how little or large your project might be, you should call or e-mail me!
Until the next article,
Brett
P.S. have you added me on Twitter yet? I am @ohbretterson
